Add a new relationship type which can be used to define relationships
- (page 3 of 4)
Now that we have defined our line management hierarchy we need to describe a new type of relationship, in this case "Project manager".
In order to define a relationship, select User/Edit relationship types from the menu in the Windows Studio. In the Web Studio, select user from the top strip, then select "Edit relationship types".
Click the "Add new" button to add a new relationship type. In the screen that you are presented, type "Project management" in the name box. In "Forward name" box type "project manages". In the "Backward name" box type "works for".
Leave the graph type as free. This selection allows a none strict hierarchy to be specified, for example a person can have two project managers. At the moment this setting is ignored, but it will be used in future releases.
This defines a new relationship type. Now add in the relationships:
  | | Bob project manages Carol and David; |
  | | Ann project manages Carol. |
As you can see, Carol has two project managers (Ann and Bob). Also the project management hierarchy is completely independent of the line management hierarchy.
