This how to shows the process for defining an external web service and then creating a workflow action based on one.
In order to do this we will:

		Create a simple web service using .net;
		Define the web service in the Ant studio;
		Add the web service to a workflow as an action;
		Test the new workflow.

Web services provide a powerful way to integrate existing systems, written in other languages, in to a workflow.
