Change the activity within a workflow instance that is running - (page 5 of 7)

Level: intermediate
Required reading: Simple workflow

Occasionally a workflow will be in the incorrect state, for example when a user answered "yes" rather than "no" to a question. In this case the administrator can change the activity which is to be run.

Changing the currently executing activity can cause unexpected results depending on the workflow design.

In order to change the activity that is to be run next, right click on the activity (in the workflow instance status view) and select "Set as next activity". This will terminate all the activities that are running and add a request to start the activity selected.
For example the holiday request workflow could be set to requery the approver of holiday if a mistake was made.
